Frederick Sound chinook release plan makes progress

A plan to improve hatchery king salmon returns near Petersburg has made it past another couple hurdles. A group of Alaska Department of Fish and Game scientists, fishermen, and hatchery representatives has recommended the proposal move forward and one of the key permits has come through. A Petersburg fisherman is working to recover two boats aground and sunken on the Kupreanof Island shoreline across from Petersburg. The 42-foot fiberglass gillnetter Moonshadow and the 57-foot wooden tender Robert G. Johnston both belong to Arnold Enge. more
