Municipal water gets frequent testing

Petersburg’s municipal water system is tested daily, weekly and more. That’s according to Borough Public Works Director Karl Hagerman. Hagerman briefed the Assembly on the safety of the water supply last Tuesday night (2/19) in the wake of the previous week’s boil-water notice. Hagerman explained that the water undergoes frequent testing by Petersburg Medical Center, as well as staff at the water treatment plant. Matt Lichtenstein filed this report:

Petersburg electrical workers get new contract

Petersburg’s borough assembly Monday, July 6 will be voting on a new contract for employees of Petersburg Municipal Power and Light. The borough has yet to release the terms of the new collective bargaining agreement with the employees represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. However, staffers estimate the new contract will cost an additional 156-thousand dollars. more

Three days of fun and games planned for Petersburg’s Independence Day celebration

Petersburg is planning several days of fun events to celebrate the Independence Day holiday. Vendor and food booths are open Friday, July 3rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, July 4th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on main street. The festivities kick off Thursday night, July 2nd at the Parks and Recreation community center. more
