PHS students confront the horror of Clumsy Custard

Petersburg High School students perform a melodrama-comedy by William Gleason Wednesday and Thursday March 27-28 at the Wright Auditorium. Joe Viechnicki stopped by rehearsal and spoke with director Tiffany Christensen and some of the students about the performance.

The Clumsy Custard Horror Show and Ice Cream Clone Review starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Doors open at 6:30 and tickets are on sale at the door for 10 dollars, or five dollars for students and seniors.

One race in Petersburg’s October election

Voters have just one contested race this October in Petersburg when it comes to candidates for local office. Tuesday, August 23 was the filing deadline for candidates for 19 available seats on the borough assembly and other elected boards and commissions. 15 people filed the paperwork in time to run for one of those seats and the other positions remain vacant and could be filled later by appointment. more

Two sentenced for Christmas Eve burglary in Petersburg

Two of three men involved in a Christmas Eve burglary in Petersburg were sentenced to jail time Tuesday, August 23. 27-year-old Taylor Homer and 21-year-old Anthony Sainz both appeared in separate hearings before superior court judge William Carey at the Petersburg court house Tuesday. The men were accused of breaking into a warehouse at Hungerford Hill, south of downtown Petersburg, and stealing a pickup truck, tires, tools and nine guns on Christmas Eve of 2015. more
