Lights added to drive down dock project

Petersburg will add some lighting to its commercial drive-down dock project. The borough assembly Monday approved a harbor board recommendation to include that electrical work in the advertisement for construction bids instead of leaving it as optional. The addition will drive up the cost of the project by about a half million dollars but borough staff say the Harbor Department will have more than enough money to cover it. Petersburg electrical workers get new contract

Petersburg’s borough assembly Monday, July 6 will be voting on a new contract for employees of Petersburg Municipal Power and Light. The borough has yet to release the terms of the new collective bargaining agreement with the employees represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. However, staffers estimate the new contract will cost an additional 156-thousand dollars. more

Three days of fun and games planned for Petersburg’s Independence Day celebration

Petersburg is planning several days of fun events to celebrate the Independence Day holiday. Vendor and food booths are open Friday, July 3rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, July 4th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on main street. The festivities kick off Thursday night, July 2nd at the Parks and Recreation community center. more
