Petersburg residents Al and Sally Dwyer attended two events in Anchorage last week with King Harald V of Norway. The Norwegian monarch was visiting Washington state and Alaska. In Anchorage he attended a conference of oil and gas companies, toured a museum exhibit and visited the Sons of Norway lodge in Alaska’s largest city.

Joe Viechnicki spoke with the Dwyers about their impressions of the visit.

The Dwyers also heard a presentation by Norwegian explorer Borge Ousland who just traveled on skis across the Stikine Ice Field, part of a larger effort to explore the 20 largest glacial ice fields in the world.
