This last weekend the Viking Swim Team attended a swim meet in Juneau that brought in teams from all over the Southeast region.

On Friday, Petersburg High School Sophomore, Van Abbott, took second place in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:00.48.

Junior, Izabelle Ith placed second in the Girls 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 26.23s on Friday and on Saturday placed second in the Girls 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 58.87s.

Junior Ben Higgins placed third on Friday in the Boys 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 53.76 and placed second in the 200 Yard Freestyle on Saturday with a time of 1:56.07.

The boys relay team of Van Abbott, Britton Erickson, Ben Higgins, and Casey Evens earned fourth on Friday in the Boys 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:45.05 and took third place in the event on Saturday with a time of 1:48.09.

Sophomore Britton Erickson placed third in the Boys 200 Yard Individual Medley on Saturday with a time of 2:20.46.

KFSK Student Intern Rosa Lopez caught up with Coach Andy Carlisle at a recent swim practice and talked about the team’s performance at the meet.

Petersburg High School Girls took fourth on Friday and the Boys took fifth.

On Saturday the Petersburg High School Girls took fifth and the boys also took fifth.

The regional swim meet will be held in Sitka.
