Petersburg High School varsity volleyball split their season opening series at home against Juneau Douglas Friday and Saturday, winning on Friday and losing on Saturday. On Friday Petersburg lost game one 25-16, then won two 25-13 and 25-20. The Crimson Bears won game four 25-21 and the Petersburg won game five 15-9.
On Saturday Juneau won in four games, 25-18, 25-10, 24-26 and 25-22.

That weekend also has a local high school swim meet. Between the visiting volleyball players and swimmers about 150 high school athletes are expected in town October 16-17th.
