Republican Sheila Finkenbinder of Sitka is running for House District 35.
Sheila Finkenbinder is running for State House as a Republican candidate against Democrat incumbent Jonathon Kreiss-Tomkins. House District 35 represents many island communities in Southeast including Sitka and Petersburg.
Finkenbinder has lived in Sitka for 25 years. She’s somewhat retired now but in her professional past she was a legislative aide to former Representative Peggy Wilson, the Director of Sitka’s Chamber of Commerce, and founder of a non-profit to help people with job training and developing businesses.
During a recent visit to Petersburg, Finkenbinder stopped by KFSK to talk with Angela Denning about her priorities and what sets her apart from her opponent. She said being a legislative aide to Peggy Wilson helped her learn how the legislative process works.
