Petersburg swim team builds up for Regions, State

Petersburg High School’s swim team competed against swimmers from all over Southeast in Juneau this past weekend. Other teams included Juneau-Douglas, Thunder Mountain, Sitka, Ketchikan, and Craig.

PHS won some individual events on Friday and Saturday.

Senior Ben Higgins took first place in the 500 yard freestyle event Friday.

Izabelle Ith won the 50 freestyle Saturday.

Van Abbott took firsts in both the 100 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke events on Saturday.

Andy Carlisle is the Petersburg Swim Coach. He told KFSK’s Angela Denning that the team raced really well. He said they are still in the building-up phase of the season.
