PETERSBURG, AK Sitka High School’s boys and girls cross country teams ran to first place finishes at last weekend’s Jack Eddy Classic cross country meet in Petersburg. Eleven high school teams from around the region ran the five kilometer race starting and ending at Sandy Beach Park Saturday. It was the second race of the season for most of the Petersburg runners. The PHS girls team placed second among 3A schools, while the boys team came in fifth. Joe Viechnicki caught up with a few of the local runners after the race and put together this report.
