PETERSBURG-AK The Petersburg Mayor’s Award for the Arts this year honors a long-time advocate of the public library, local literary endeavors, musical arts and more. Retired librarian Sue Paulsen helped found The Friends of Petersburg Library and serves as president of the group, which helps support library services and programs. Paulsen was also Petersburg’s 2007 poet laureate and she’s known for her piano performances, accompaniment and instruction. Any given Christmas, you may have heard one of her poetic, musical reviews of the year in news during Julebukking.
Matt Lichtenstein recently spoke with Paulsen, shortly after she was named as this year’s recipient of the Mayors Award
