PETERSBURG-AK The Chief Justice of Alaska’s Supreme Court joined many other state judges and more than a hundred Petersburg-area residents who turned out Friday to honor the town’s retiring magistrate during the Little Norway Festival. The party was a tribute to Darlene Whitethorn, one of the longest-serving officers in the Alaska courts. But as Matt Lichtenstein reports, the event also served to highlight the key role that magistrates play in Alaska.
