Petersburg’s team took 12th place overall in the Klondike International Road Relay from Skagway to Whitehorse last weekend. They call themselves “Smashanuska” and they were competing with 123 other teams from the US and Canada this year. There are ten legs in the 109-mile, overnight race. The Smashanuska runners finished in 15 hours, 8 minutes and 52 seconds. Matt Lichtenstein spoke with team member Erin Watkins:
