Petersburg Police Chief Kelly Swihart is back in town after 11 weeks of training in Virginia.
As police chief, Kelly Swihart oversees a department of 15 employees, including nine sworn police officers. He’s led the department for about a year and half.
Swihart’s training took place at the FBI National Academy. It was course for law enforcement executives around the world. Swihart was one of 215 in the class. Participants were able to select what topics they wanted to focus on. Swihart chose the curriculum for leadership, management and conflict resolution.
Angela Denning talked with him about the specifics of the training. He said it was great learning experience.
