The commercial Tanner crab fishery in core-areas of Southeast closes Saturday, Feb. 17 at noon. This year allowed for seven days of fishing in those areas. The non-core areas remain open until noon on Thursday, Feb. 22.

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game announced today, Feb. 16, that the golden king crab fishery will close in the North Stephens Passage Area this Monday, Feb. 19, at noon. State managers expect to reach the 10,000 pound harvest goal in that area based on the effort levels and harvest projections.

ADF&G will continue to monitor the golden king crab fishery in other areas that remain open including Icy Strait, Northern, Mid-Chatham Strait, Lower Chatham Strait, and Southern.
