Just in time for Monday’s holiday honoring the civil rights leader, fifth graders at Rae C. Stedman Elementary School have completed a mural of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The mural is made out of Rubik’s cubes, the colorful puzzle toy created in 1974.

Students in the fifth grade class of Sara Hadad-Dembs have been learning the math needed to solve the cubes and some have gotten pretty quick at completing the puzzle. Joe Viechnicki spoke with the teacher and some of the students as they completed their design this month.

The mural will be on display at Anchor Properties in Petersburg for the Martin Luther King holiday and into February for black history month.
