Officials with the Veterans Affairs health care system will be holding town halls in Petersburg and Wrangell this week.

They’re visiting the two communities to help veterans sign up for and understand about health care benefits. Dr. Timothy Ballard, director of the Alaska VA health care system says he has been holding similar town halls in larger communities on a regular basis. It’s his first visit to Petersburg. Joe Viechnicki spoke with Ballard about the town halls and what they’re hoping to accomplish.

That town hall in Petersburg is Tuesday, March 12 5:30-7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. Wrangell’s town hall is at the Nolan Center Wednesday, March 13 from 5:30-7 p.m.

Veterans can also find out more information on the system’s website or facebook page. Or people can also call a one stop information number 907-257-5463. The email is alaskaquery@va.gov
