Petersburg School Board approves FY 2021 budget

Petersburg School Board approved a budget for fiscal year 2021 at a regular meeting Tuesday night. The budget includes some wiggle room for the coronavirus and other unknowns.

Petersburg School Board to consider next year’s budget and the start of school

Petersburg’s School Board Tuesday will be meeting via video conference to go over next year’s budget. Finance Director, Karen Morrison, will present the board with the details of the budget, which includes about $8.8 million in revenues and $8.7 million in expenditures.

Clausen Memorial Museum adds two paintings to its local art collection

Clausen Memorial Museum in Petersburg has acquired two new pieces for its growing collection of local art. The museum uses grant money from the Rasmuson Foundation to purchase the art. The collection now stands at at least 45 pieces.

Petersburg sophomore, Kara Newman is back from Sweden three months earlier than planned. She was on a year-long international exchange program through the Rotary Club but the worldwide coronavirus outbreak changed her schedule. Still, she learned a lot about the Swedish culture in her time there.

Two Petersburg High School students were part of a year-long international exchange program through the Rotary Club. Abi Anderson went to Germany and Kara Newman to Sweden. But the worldwide coronavirus outbreak changed their schedule. Abi Anderson has been sheltering in place in Germany.
