Petersburg High School is getting automated, unmanned cameras for the gymnasium to stream and record events. Viewing sports will require a paid subscription but other events will not.

Petersburg School District is considering adopting a proposal that restricts sex offenders on campus. The state’s school board association sent a sample policy to all public school boards but Petersburg has to figure out some local details first before approving its own policy.

Mitkof Middle School students in Petersburg will start swimming as part of their mandatory PE requirement. But not all parents are excited about the idea.

Two bears have been killed on Mitkof Island for hanging around people’s homes and businesses. One was a brown bear killed by a resident and another was a black bear killed by police.
