As of 12 p.m. on Monday, August 19, twelve people had filed for nine seats on various borough boards.

Spawning kings get royal treatment

Hatchery king salmon near Petersburg got a little extra help making it to their spawning grounds this summer. Low projected returns triggered the closure of the popular freshwater sport fishery that targets the kings. And, as KFSK’s Hannah Flor reports, the projections inspired managers to give the fish some unconventional help.

Assembly votes to sell second parcel at Dock St. to Island Refrigeration

The Petersburg Borough Assembly accepted a local business’ application on August 5 to buy a small piece of borough-owned tideland. It’s the third time in the last year that the assembly has voted to sell its tidelands.
