The Petersburg School District and the teachers union have reached a tentative agreement after five months of negotiations. The district made an offer on May 7 that includes the union’s last salary proposal.

An organization that supports non profit projects in Petersburg gave out nearly 30 thousand dollars in grants at an event last weekend. Much of the money went to projects that impact kids. And roughly a third of it went to a program that will train high school students to help each other respond to mental health challenges.

The Petersburg Indian Association’s tribal council voted last week to appoint Christine Yatchmenoff to the council’s sixth seat. Yatchmenoff was born and raised in Petersburg, and recently moved back to town with her granddaughter. This is her first time on Petersburg’s tribal council.
