An exhibit of paintings, photos, sculpture and paper art celebrating Pride Month opens in Petersburg tonight at the Clausen Museum.

Borough manager has goals for next 12 months

From snow plowing to economic development and staffing issues, Petersburg’s borough manager has his marching orders. The borough assembly Friday approved a list of 13 goals and objectives for manager Steve Giesbrecht to work on in the next year.

Fireworks show on July 3rd for second year

Petersburg’s community fireworks display will be on the night of July 3rd, instead of July 4th, for the second year in a row.

Petersburg assembly OKs contract for smart electric meters in harbor

Petersburg’s borough assembly Friday approved a contract for replacing electric meters in North Harbor. The new meters will no longer require an electric department employee to read that service information in person. Instead hookup, usage and disconnection information will be transmitted directly to the municipal building. The borough is looking into whether that technology will work in the other harbors and may expand the program to other parts of town.

SUV nearly goes off bridge over Hammer Slough

A sport utility vehicle broke through the guardrail and may have narrowly missed falling off the wooden bridge over Hammer Slough in Petersburg early Sunday morning.
