Incumbent runs for third term on Petersburg assembly

Wednesday, September 12 is the start of in-person, absentee voting for Petersburg’s municipal election and election day is less than three weeks away. Voters have a choice for borough assembly, with six local residents appearing on the ballot for two seats. One candidate, Don Spigelmyre, has said he’s no longer interested in running. One assembly incumbent is running to keep her seat. Nancy Strand is hoping for another three-year term.

One of the six candidates for borough assembly in Petersburg says he’s no longer interested running for that position this year. Don Spigelmyre is fleet manager at Icicle Seafoods in Petersburg and is on Petersburg’s harbor advisory board. He said this week that because of personal and professional reasons he would not be able to devote the time needed to the assembly position at this time.

Fisherman, political newcomer seeks assembly seat

For the second year in a row, six people are seeking two seats on Petersburg’s borough assembly. It’s currently the only contested race for the October 2nd municipal election. KFSK is profiling each of the candidates this month. Political newcomer Taylor Norheim has decided to seek a seat on the assembly and explains he’d be learning the ropes.

Lynn seeks return to Petersburg assembly

Voting day for Petersburg’s municipal election is less than a month away and in-person absentee voting starts at the borough clerk’s office this Wednesday, September 12. The only contested race on the borough ballot is a six-person race for two seats on the assembly. In fact it’s the second year in a row with a six person race for two seats. KFSK is profiling the six candidates running this fall, starting with former assembly member Bob Lynn.
