Petersburg on Friday saw its first drop in active COVID-19 cases in over a week.

Petersburg High varsity volleyball 2-4 at first seeding tournament

Petersburg High School’s varsity volleyball team won two and lost four at the first seeding tournament of the new season last weekend in Metlakatla. It was the second week of competition for this year’s squad and it helps determine seeding for the regional tournament later this fall.

Petersburg’s 45th Oktoberfest on for Saturday

Arts, crafts and food are on sale at the community gym this Saturday for the 45th Oktoberfest Artshare. It’s put on each year by the Muskeg Maleriers, a local group dedicated to rosemaling, or traditional Norwegian decorative painting.

A Kake man reported missing Saturday was found dead Monday near the small Southeast community.
