Moose harvest strong on Kupreanof, Kuiu islands

Hunters continue to report success in the month-long moose season on the islands and mainland of central Southeast Alaska around Petersburg, Wrangell and Kake. Halfway through the season the Alaska Department of Fish and Game reports a harvest of 66 bull moose.

Voting for Petersburg’s municipal election follows 2020 template

Petersburg’s municipal election is coming up October 5th and absentee voting is already underway. There are contested races for assembly, school board and hospital board this year and voters will be deciding two ballot questions.

Petersburg sees eight new COVID cases, more tests pending

Petersburg Medical Center reported eight new cases of COVID-19 in the community Monday. That puts the number of active cases in Petersburg at nine.
