Voters elect two new faces to city council

Petersburg’s newest city council members say they are looking forward to getting to work. Voters elected 51-year-old Lee Corrao, a pastor of the Lighthouse Assemby of God Church, as well as 24-year-old Sara Stoner, a commercial fisherman.

Fish auction, four course meal raise money for PMHS

Local residents turned out Saturday night to support Petersburg Mental Health Services and enjoyed a four-course gourmet meal while taking part in the auction of 11 works of fish art that have been on display around town. It’s the second year for mental health’s Fish On Parade gala and once again it featured a meal prepared by California professional chef Ross Kilkenny. Joe viechnicki stopped by the Sons of Norway Hall last week to speak with the chef along with his sister Kim Kilkenny of Petersburg Mental Health.

Cold storage makes some cold cash in 2nd year of operation

Petersburg’s community cold storage broke even and then some last fiscal year. The Petersburg Economic Development Council facility has also attracted some new customers in its second year of operation and, despite a poor pink salmon return, the cold storage kept its blast freezers busy with chums for several weeks this summer.
