Petersburg’s Elks club organized an Easter Egg hunt on Sandy Beach last month. But before the kids came with their baskets, the local Rotary Club arrived with gloves, plastic bags, and trash grabber sticks. The rotarians found a lot hidden around the public park — but none of it included Easter Eggs.

Petersburg School Board to review exempt contracts

The Petersburg School Board will meet in its regular session tonight at 6 p.m. in the Petersburg Middle and High School library. The board will address six items of new business, including a review of the district’s exempt contracts.

Petersburg’s Borough Assembly has a hefty agenda for its noon meeting today. The Assembly is scheduled to do a final reading of an ordinance to change the safety code for local buildings. Then they’ll review ten items of new business.

Petersburg Borough Assembly holds work session for next year’s budget

Petersburg’s Borough Assembly met on April 24th to review the proposed annual budget. Altogether, they’re looking at a $1.5 million increase over last year. A million of that is earmarked for Petersburg’s schools — the School District is asking for a budget increase of a million dollars to offset a major shortfall from last year — and to ensure Petersburg’s schools can continue regular programming.
