The Petersburg Borough Assembly will decide tonight whether to apply for a state grant to replace a major float in Petersburg’s South Harbor. They will also take a final vote on whether to rezone a vacant lot on Sandy Beach Road, as well as decide on a few borough budget adjustments.
Petersburg welcomes canoe group on journey to Wrangell totem pole raising

A group from Kake embarked on a mid-June journey this week, traveling by canoe to Wrangell for a historic totem pole raising. Tribal and community members in Petersburg welcomed the visitors to town on Tuesday evening to rest and reconnect before continuing their canoe journey to Wrangell Island.
Police chief’s lawsuit against Petersburg Borough ends with $70,000 settlement

Petersburg’s police chief sued his employer, the Petersburg Borough, and the two parties have officially resolved the matter with an out-of-court settlement. That means the remaining claim about the chief’s First Amendment rights will not go to trial this summer.
