Next year’s borough budget, the police station project, another sea otter resolution, and the proposed Kake road and electrical intertie are just some of the items on a lengthy agenda for Monday’s borough assembly meeting in Petersburg. Matt Lichtenstein has an overview.

RAC reccomends area projects for funding

A committee of Wrangell, Petersburg and Kake residents has recommended 21 area projects and festivals for federal funding. As Abbey Collins reports, nearby communities could soon see a range of projects, from trail and cabin improvements, to festivals and amphibian monitoring. more

One race in Petersburg’s October election

Voters have just one contested race this October in Petersburg when it comes to candidates for local office. Tuesday, August 23 was the filing deadline for candidates for 19 available seats on the borough assembly and other elected boards and commissions. 15 people filed the paperwork in time to run for one of those seats and the other positions remain vacant and could be filled later by appointment. more
