PETERSBURG, ALASKA Petersburg city councilors voiced concern and skepticism this week about the state's proposal for a road to Kake, a town of about 500 people on Kupreanof Island about 40 miles west of Petersburg. The council is firmly in support of an electrical transmission line to bring cheap hydro-electric power to the neighboring community. However, several members worried that adding a road into the mix would delay or even halt progress on the intertie. Also, some council members didn’t want to go against the wishes of the nearby city of Kupreanof, which has opposed the road plan.
