PETERSBURG, AK Low-income residents in Petersburg can learn about cutting their energy bills, through a program in town this summer.
The Energywise program is funded by the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act….and its being conducted by Ruralcap, a statewide non-profit aiming to help low income Alaskans. Program volunteers hope to do energy-saving outreach in 12-hundred homes around the state this summer, including 90 here in Petersburg. A local energy fair is also coming up Thursday. Joe Viechnicki spoke with Rural cap’s Charlie Ess, along with Vista volunteer Christine Johnson and Energywise crew member Melissa Newman about how the program works.
