Scientists have discovered many things about humpback whales that come to feed near Petersburg in the summertime but there are still a lot of unknowns. Like, how do they get to and from Hawaii?

A scientist by the name of Ladd Irvine is trying to figure that out through a new tagging project. He will be speaking about it in Petersburg Tuesday night at 7 at the high school.

Petersburg’s Don Holmes is helping with the plans. He is a board member of the Marine Mammals Center in town. He spoke to Angela Denning about Irvine who is with Oregon State University’s Marine Mammal Institute.
