Over 50 people gathered for a protest in downtown Petersburg on Aug. 15, joining thousands across the state who demonstrated against President Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage.

Demonstrators told KFSK they were there to reject Putin’s visit to Alaska and stand in solidarity with Ukraine.

“In my opinion, Putin is a war criminal. And the fact that we’re rolling out the red carpet and letting him on American soil is not good, not a good precedent to set,” Lea Stanton Gregor said at the protest. “We are joined with many other communities across the state today to say we reject this.”
