To kick off September’s National Recovery Month and October’s Substance Use Prevention Month, the Supporting Health Awareness and Resiliency Education (SHARE) Coalition is hosting a sober “Mocktails and Mingle” event in Petersburg. 

KFSK’s Taylor Heckart spoke with organizers Becky Turland and Ashley Kawashima about the importance of hosting sober spaces and how they can help “break the stigma” around asking for support. Kawashima explained how the idea for the event started.

The potluck-style event will be held tonight, Sept. 5, from 5-7 o’clock at the John Hanson Sr. Hall. There will be crafts, games, mocktails, food, and a photo booth.
