Petersburg’s Borough Assembly has two open seats in the Oct. 7 municipal election. Five people are running for a 3-year term.

One of the candidates is Jeff Meucci, 70. He’s lived in Petersburg since 1983 and retired after spending decades commercial fishing, working for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and also serving in local government. Meucci’s latest stint on the Petersburg Borough Assembly ended in 2023 when he lost a bid for reelection.

Meucci sat down with KFSK’s Olivia Rose to talk about why he decided to give a run for assembly another go.
