The Petersburg High School swim season is well underway. Now, only one more meet stands between the team and the regional competition at the end of the month. 

At the Sitka Invitational on Friday, Oct. 3, Bella Miller placed first in the girls 200- yard freestyle, Logan Tow placed first in the boys 200-yard freestyle, and Lexie Tow placed first in the girls 100-yard freestyle. On Saturday, Oct. 4, Lexie Tow placed first in the girls 200-yard individual medley, Logan Tow placed first in the boys 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle, and Bella Miller placed first in the girls 100-yard backstroke. The Viking girls’ relay team also placed first in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

KFSK’s Taylor Heckart caught up with head swim coach Andy Carlisle to talk about the team’s performance at the meet, and what’s next in the season.

Carlisle said he’s confident that Petersburg swimmers will make it to the state championship in November. The swim team’s next meet is scheduled for Oct. 17- 18 in Juneau. Regions will take place in Ketchikan on Oct. 31-Nov 1.
