
Every member of the Petersburg High School swim team is heading to the state championship.
At the regional competition in Ketchikan last weekend, senior Logan Tow took the fastest time in the men’s 100 yard freestyle. He is now seeded first for that event.
KFSK’s Taylor Heckart spoke with head swim coach Andy Carlisle about the performances that paved the way to state.

“On finals day, they stepped up and raced like maniacs,” Carlisle told KFSK. “It was a very good day.”

In the finals, Logan Tow placed first in the men’s 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.99. He also placed first in the men’s 100 yard freestyle, and his time of 47.69 seconds was a lifetime best.
Sophomore Lexie Tow placed second in the women’s 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.80, and third in the women’s 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.27 seconds.
Sophomore Bella Miller placed second in the women’s 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:33.52, and fifth in the women’s 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.85.
Senior Brooklyn Whitethorn placed fourth in the women’s 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.81 seconds, and fourth in the women’s 100 yard freestyle with a time of 56.21 seconds.
Junior Olivia Hinde placed sixth in the women’s 500 yard freestyle with a time of 6:19.95, and seventh in the women’s 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:19.58.
The women’s relay team placed second in the 4×50 yard medley relay with a time of 1:57.70, and second in the 4×50 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:47.42.
Petersburg’s women’s team also ranked second as a team in the competition.
The state championship in Anchorage happens this weekend, on Nov. 7–8.
