Petersburg varsity volleyball ranks second in Southeast after Haines seeding tournament

Petersburg High School’s varsity volleyball team has been serving up a powerful start to the season. The team placed third at Lumen Christi’s Spiketacular Tournament in Anchorage on Oct. 9-11, and are ranked second in the region after Haines’ North Seeding Volleyball Tournament on Oct 16-18.

Stuffed animals ‘get up to a little bit of mischief’ at Petersburg Public Library sleepover

The Petersburg Public Library hosted a sleepover for Petersburg’s resident stuffed animals. While some had a quiet night at the library, photos from the night show other stuffies getting into mischief.

‘Exceptional’: Petersburg’s Jaime Cabral recognized as 2026 Alaska Assistant Principal of the Year

Petersburg’s Middle and High School Assistant Principal, Jaime Cabral, is officially Alaska’s 2026 Assistant Principal of the Year and the 2025 Region V Assistant Principal of the Year. Cabral was recognized at the Alaska Principals’ Conference in Anchorage on Oct. 11.

Grant funding will give 15 Alaska libraries free access to many paywalled newspapers

Fifteen libraries across Alaska will be gaining access to a large online database of national and in-state news sources. The Alaska Library Network received a $10,250 grant from the Atwood Foundation, which gives some libraries funding to provide free access to a database called Newsbank.
