Petersburg’s new fire hall is nearly complete. While there is still some cleanup and finish work to do, the furniture will start arriving next week. Officials are hoping the department can move in around the end of the year after installation of a new compressor for filling the firefighter’s air tanks. Matt Lichtenstein stopped by to take a closer look at the new facility this week

Petersburg’s city council Tuesday agreed to seek an engineering company to assess the options for repairing or replacing the police station. Councilors also approved an incentive program for installing ground source heat pumps, but voted down viewing platforms proposed for Birch Street on Hammer Slough.
