PETERSBURG-AK Petersburg’s airport is set to shut down for up to a month this spring. That will mean passengers and freight will have to travel to and from Wrangell to catch Alaska Airlines flights.
It’s part of a major project to reconstruct the runway with new safety improvements. Contractors are set to start working on the first phase of the project in September, though the runway-shutdown is not scheduled until late march.
