Stuart Whyte, Interim General Manager and Development Director was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up just one mile from the iconic Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. Stuart attended Columbia College in downtown Chicago and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Radio Broadcasting Communications. Stuart moved to Ketchikan, Alaska in 2003 for his first professional radio job, advertising sales at KFMJ Oldies Radio. Stuart made the jump from commercial radio to community radio in 2014, taking a job as Development Director at KRBD in Ketchikan. In August 2023, Stuart brought his Development experience over to KFSK. He took over as Interim Manager of the station in September 2025. Stuart is based in Ketchikan, and splits his time working remotely from home and in-person at the station. Stuart is married to Terri, a math teacher at Ketchikan High School. They have two children, Alice (9) and Henry (4).

Julie Hursey, Operations Manager and Morning Edition Host I started at KFSK in the fall of 1982 as the Volunteer Coordinator. All these years later, it still is one of my favorite parts of working here. I became Morning Edition Host in 1986, taking summers off to fish commercially, then working with my husband on our charter boat. I still am the Morning Edition Host from September to June, and a few years ago, became the relief skipper for the General Manager when they are away. This added Operations responsibilities, which involves everything from uploading programs and overseeing automation to Public Service announcements and hosting Tradio. I get the calls when we are off the air, and work with engineering and IT to remedy the problems. I plan on continuing Morning Edition Host duties for as long as I can scramble over those snow berms left by the plows and knock snow off the satellite dish in the early hours of winter mornings. It’s an honor to share that first cup of coffee with you.
