PETERSBURG, AK A quick moving fire destroyed a home on the Kupreanof Island shoreline Tuesday, despite efforts by local volunteers. The blaze broke out shortly before 11 a.m. at a home on the Kupreanof, about two miles south of Petersburg. The volunteer fire department from Petersburg responded with the harbor security skiff and some pumps. Department spokesman Dave Berg says the home was fully engulfed by flames when fire fighters arrived.
