PETERSBURG-AK Some of Alaska’s historic documents and photographs are getting a new lease on life. A specialist in paper preservation and restoration is travelling to several museums around the state for most of this year. The conservator just spent a month at the local museum in Petersburg. Next he is in Juneau, then Anchorage, Kenai and Wasilla. As Matt Lichtenstein reports, the visit is especially significant because Alaska museums have no resident experts who specialize in paper conservation.
