PETERSBURG-AK As the school year gets underway in Petersburg this week, the High School is welcoming a new Rotary exchange student from Thailand. 16-year-old Jinwara Oranrak is from Chom Thong, near the capital of Bangkok. At home, she studies mathematics and science, and she likes swimming. She goes by the nickname “Fer”.
Fer is staying with local families though the school year. She’s been in Petersburg for a little over a week. Her classes at Petersburg high include Problem Solving, English as a Second Language, Aquaculture, US history, and Swimming-fitness. Fer is excited about the school year and spoke with KFSK’s Matt Lichtenstein on the Friday before school started.
