PETERSBURG-AK Petersburg students met a drug detecting dog and his handler from Juneau this month. The Petersburg School District invited the team to an assembly for the middle and high schools. It was just an informational visit this time around, and the kids got a kick out of the cute K9. But administrators may bring the dog back for an actual search at some point in the future. It’s part of a broader community effort to battle substance abuse among teens.
