PETERSBURG-AK
Council secretary Jeanette Ness along with council members Brenda Norheim, Jeanette Strickland and Jessica Peterson have stepped down from the council. Ness confirmed the four resigned from the council October 12th but declined comment on her reason why. The other council members did not return phone calls seeking comment.
The three remaining council members are Chair Derek Lopez, Vice Chair Ron Ware and Melanie Frentz. Lopez declined comment on the resignations saying the issue was an internal matter. Asked whether the PIA would elect or appoint new council members, Lopez said they would consider all their options.
