Alaska Department of Fish and Game commissioner and former Petersburg resident Cora Campbell was in Petersburg this week to observe the start of the Board of Fish meeting. Campbell was appointed commissioner by Governor Sean Parnell just over a year ago and confirmed by the legislature during last year’s session. She grew up in Petersburg, commercially fishing with her family. She also worked as executive director of the Petersburg Vessel Owners Association before taking on the role of fisheries policy advisor and special assistant to Governors Palin and Parnell. Joe Viechnicki spoke with her Sunday about returning to Petersburg.
