Commercial crabbers in Southeast will still be able to use square pots for golden king crab fishing. The state’s Board of Fish this month voted down a change in the allowable gear for the fishery. It was a proposal aimed at reducing bycatch of halibut and eliminating a bycatch number that affects the annual halibut allocation for the longline fleet.
