A team of Petersburg high schoolers took first place in the presentation category at the Alaska Tsunami Ocean Sciences Bowl in Seward last weekend. The statewide competition pits teams against each other in a quiz bowl. It also requires teams to write a research paper and present their findings at the annual event. Petersburg’s team of five students and two coaches called themselves the “Cexy Cnidarians”. The team researched a “Southeast Alaska Inside Waters Management Plan of Walleye Pollock.” Joe Viechnicki spoke with the team about the competition and their work.
