It doesn’t look like Petersburg will get what it wants from the latest redistricting process. Alaska Redistricting Board Executive Director Taylor Bickford thinks it unlikely that the board will make any changes to the legislative boundaries it designed for southeast. The latest revision still puts Petersburg in a new legislative district with Juneau. So, the City is preparing to go to court again to stay in a district with Sitka. While the town lost that battle in superior court the last time around, the Supreme Court-ordered rewrite gave local leaders new hope.
